How It Works
Utility infrastructure is one of the most complex parts of a development project. Multiple utility providers, consultants, contractors, and city agencies are often involved, each with their own requirements and timelines. Nexa Infrastructure organizes this process so that developers and contractors have one clear point of coordination managing the full utility track.
Step 1 - Project Review and Utility Assessment
Every project begins with a review of the site and the planned development. Nexa works with the owner, design team, and project managers to understand the building program, utility load requirements, and site conditions. During this stage we review available electric, gas, telecom, water, and sewer services and identify any potential constraints that could affect the project.
This early review helps the project team understand what utility work may be required, what approvals will be needed, and which infrastructure elements may become long lead items.
Step 2 - Utility Strategy and Planning
Once the project requirements are clear, Nexa works with the design team and consultants to organize a utility coordination strategy. This includes determining the likely service approach, preparing the project for utility submissions, and confirming that the required information is included in the design drawings and documentation.
At this stage Nexa helps ensure that utility applications are prepared correctly so that the project can move through the review process with fewer delays.
Step 3 - Applications and Utility Coordination
Nexa manages the submission and coordination process with utility providers and agencies. This includes coordinating applications, organizing required documents, tracking open comments, and following up with utility representatives as the project moves through review.
We coordinate directly with providers such as Con Edison, National Grid, telecom companies, and city agencies where required. By maintaining consistent follow up and communication, Nexa helps keep the approval process organized and moving forward.
Step 4 - Infrastructure Coordination During Construction
As the project moves into construction, Nexa continues to coordinate the infrastructure work required to bring utility services to the building. This may include electric service vaults, gas coordination, telecom infrastructure, water and sewer connections, street openings, and related infrastructure work.
Nexa works alongside the contractor, subcontractors, engineers, and utilities to align approvals with field operations and ensure that the required infrastructure work is completed in the proper sequence.
Step 5 - Project Tracking Through the Nexa Portal
Throughout the entire process, clients have visibility into the progress of their project through the Nexa Client Portal. The portal provides a centralized dashboard where owners and project teams can track the status of each utility scope, see current milestones, access project documents, and understand what steps are happening next.
This system allows developers and contractors to stay informed without needing to track multiple utility contacts or approval systems. Every major utility step is organized and visible in one place.
A Single Point of Coordination
From early planning through infrastructure coordination, Nexa Infrastructure provides one organized process for managing utilities on development projects. By bringing coordination, tracking, and infrastructure management together under one team, Nexa helps projects stay organized and reduces the complexity that often slows down utility approvals and construction.
